Poggio al Casone La Cattura Toscana 2018 750mL 92 Points-James Suckling
Since 1903, the Castellani family have been exporting their estate wines from Tuscany. They have changed and evolved over the decades, but throughout the years the philosophy of their work has remained consistent: "The quality of the wine begins in the vineyard," as their ancestors used to say. Used primarily as a wine resort by Castellani, the Poggio al Casone vineyard is located on the first hills overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea in the municipality of Crespina. Together with the deep and draining soils, sea breezes and intense brightness, this area of Tuscany was particularly attractive to plant Teroldego & Syrah.
Tasting notes
Winemaker's Notes
This wine is obtained from Teroldego and Syrah grapes from of the “Vigna Nuova” in Poggio al Casone. The use of organic methods in the conduction of the vineyard and natural methods during vinification, makes “La Cattura” a fruity and fresh wine with a great intensity.Balsamic and refreshing wine with clear herbaceous hints reminding green stem and grass; rose and green bell pepper, blackberry and red currant; medium bodied and fresh, it displays a remarkable texture and a silky mouth feel.
92 Points - James Suckling
"Love the aromas of black chocolate, dark fruits and burnt orange. Full body, round and soft tannins and a juicy, earthy finish. Fascinating wine. Made from organically grown grapes. Drink or hold."
